Asst.Lec. Marwa jamal Mohamed, teaching in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Technology

Publishes research in an international journal within Scopus databases entitled:

"Utilize Chitosan to Coat Hydroxyapatite on Polymer"

The research addressed that increasing osseointegration by applying polymer coatings to ceramics using the dip-coating method represents a challenge in itself for the success of the process of coating polymeric materials on ceramic materials using the previous method.

This research aims to create a new interface to enhance osseointegration. This interface between the polymeric part and bone tissue overcomes the problems and malfunctions that occur in metal limb implants in amputees. As a result of its rejection by living body cells or lack of good cohesion between the implant and the contact site. In this work, PEEK plastic is coated with a biocompatible active material (hydroxyapatite). The polymeric parts that are implanted inside the bone will be used as an anchor for the metal screw that is used in the implanted prosthesis. This research is one of a series of research working to enhance the osseointegration of bones in the simplest and most efficient ways.

Under the patronage of the Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Wissam Kazem Hamdan

In implementation of the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Department of Biomedicine was established

Organizing a workshop by the Studies and Planning Division in the department

Titled “Germany is a live experience in implementing the Bologna Path”

On the importance of the mechanism for implementing the Bologna Pathway System, which is scheduled to be implemented starting from the next academic year 2023-2024.

Delivered by Professor Asst.Lec. Wissam Zahem Muhammad, in Al-Quds Hall on Sunday, 5/11/2023.

The workshop was attended by faculty members and associates in the department

The workshop addressed the definition of the education system (Bologna Process) applied in German universities and the importance of this system for students and graduates, as well as the definition of the requirements for implementing the Bologna Process. How teachers deal with the system, how to create a prescribed description of the curricula in a manner consistent with the above system, and how to manage scheduled and unscheduled hours.

Ph.Dr. Awfa Abdel-Rasoul, in the  Biomedical Engineering Department  , obtained a certificate of participation in the international conference held for scientific research and innovation.

The published research showed that the improvement in the corrosion rate and mechanical properties of aluminum metal matrix composites can be manufactured from Al/SiCn composites and Al/SiCn/hybrid composites.

In implementation of the instructions and recommendations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and under the auspices of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban
And Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Wissam Kazem Hamdan.

As a continuation of the series of workshops held by the Department of Biomedical Engineering/Division of Studies and Planning, the department held

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Technology organized a workshop on drug addiction and its effects, with the participation of undergraduate students and a number of department professors.

The workshop, which was delivered by Ammar Abbas, aims to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs and their spread among young people due to their harm to the individual and society, and to limit their spread.

The workshop included introducing the concept of drugs and addiction to them, their causes, harms and negative effects, and the symptoms of a person addicted to drugs.
