 saja basher atta is ranked first for the best engineering graduation project on Iraqi Science Day, a member of the Biomedical Engineering Department at the University of Technology, won the best engineering graduation project on Iraqi Science Day after her participation in the graduation research in the Iraqi Science Day competition for 2020.

Biomedical medicine won one of the two prizes that the university’s employees won out of seven prizes for the competition, for its project entitled “Designing and manufacturing a blood purifier and plasma cell separation and cancer” supervised by Dr. Saad Mahmoud Ali, the scientific assistant of the department.

The project was previously won at the sixth scientific exhibition at the University of Technology in and received a letter of thanks and appreciation from the President of the University and participated in the sixth international conference on nanotechnology and advanced materials and their applications at the Nanotechnology Research Center and advanced materials / university.

A lecturer in Biomedical Engineering Department published a scientific research in a sober international journal on Design and Modeling of a Soft Artificial Heart by using advanced design programs

The lecturer at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Technology, Dr. Saad Mahmoud Ali / the scientific assistant of the Department, published a scientific research in the Journal of Materials Science and Engineering, which is a discreet international journal of Scopes reiters entitled “Design and Modeling of a Soft Artificial Heart by Using the SolidWorks and ANSYS”.

The research was published in volume (671), Issue (1), January 2020, whereby the researcher showed that investigating the biomechanical behavior of a novel soft artificial heart is a hard task as such things are very complicated in terms of material properties, geometry and engineering performances. The work focused on developing, designing and modeling a new generation of industrial heart that is low cost, easily operable, and in the size and low energy consumption, and durable soft artificial heart intended to replace an original heart permanently while the age of the best produced artificial heart is less than five years. Numerical simulation and investigation of the artificial heart were implemented using SolidWorks 17 and ANSYS 15.7, with a Multiphysics static structural model, fluent fluid flow (CFX), and fluent fluid poly-flow (CFD) analysis systems used in order to determine the dynamic response and effects of pressurized blood on heart performance during blood flow cycles. The biomechanical modeling and analysis of the soft artificial heart were implemented using the finite element modelling in ANSYS R18.0. To improve and verify the biomechanical performance, Design Expert 11.0 software and a response surface methodology (RSM) technique were used. The simulation results showed that as maximum levels of absolute pressure were applied on the ventricles and air pressurized chambers, the performance of the designed soft heart remained to perform in complete secure. The results also showed that strain energy, total deformation, maximum principal elastic strain, stress and fatigue safety factors, and fatigue life all reached their optimum values when using the SIBSTAR 103T with polyetherimide/silicone (PSN4) Nano-composite elastomers.

The seminar included an explanation of the teaching details of sports crises and how to deal with them by the sports media system and work to overcome them in a calm manner away from the convulsions that always make up between the sports decision-makers.

Two Lecturers staff at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Jinan Sattar Kashan and Dr. Saad Mahmoud Ali / the scientific assistant of the Department, published a scientific research in the Journal of Materials Science and Engineering, which is a discreetinternational journal of Scopes reiters entitled “A biomaterial for scaffold applications: Thermal properties analysis of a PSZ-TiO2 /HDPE system”.

The research was published in volume (671), Issue (1), January 2020, whereby the researchers showed that the nanomaterial mainly composed of high-density polyethylene matrices reinforced with titanium dioxide (TiO2) as a promising biomaterial due to its superior properties. In this work, an attempt was made to study the effects of six biocomposites hybrid Titanium dioxide (TiO2) and yttria-stabilized zirconia (Y-PSZ) samples reinforced with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) matrices, split into two groups, in terms of withstanding the daily activity loads imposed by human bone grafting and repairs. The fabricated composites were investigated using the hot-pressing technique at different compression pressures and compounding temperature. To achieve characterization, thermal analysis of the process using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) techniques was undertaken. To improve and verify the results, Design Expert 11.0 software and a response surface methodology (RSM) technique were used. For both nanofabricated types, the results showed that an increase in TiO2 ceramic filler from 1% to 10 %, caused percentage crystallization to increase by 14.58%. The heat of system fusion for the second fabricated system also decreased by 11%. These results show that this addition reduced the heat of system fusion by 109% compared with previous studies. The glass transition (onset) and end (melting) temperature also increased with increases in the applied compression pressure and hot-pressing temperature. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) scanned curves and the 3D atomic force microscopy (AFM) microstructure and granularity distribution images for both fabricated nanocomposite systems clearly showed that the interconnections between the filler’s ceramic nanoparticles within the polymeric matrix offer high surface roughness values due to the excellent nanofiller particle distribution within the polymeric matrix.

The letter aims to study mediating disease as it occurs by many types of pathogenic bacteria and various signs and symptoms, as well as the diagnosis of bacteria using traditional methods such as selective and differential media and biochemical tests in addition to molecular methods. For three types of pathogenic bacteria common in otitis media in children using a chain polymerization reaction.

The results of the study showed that both the aeronic and volatile pseudobacteria were the most common for ages 6-15 years, while younger ages included other bacterial species such as staphylococcus, streptococcus pneumoniae, moraxela, and persistent influenza. according to each of the types mentioned.

This study found that the strongest production of the biomembrane was most common in the germs of the aerad precursors (100%) It is followed by staphylococcus (71.4%).

The two teachers, Ph.Dr. Karim Hussein Jawad and Ph.Dr. Sabah Saad Abdel-Sahib from the  Biomedical Engineering Department  at the University of Technology, obtained a patent granted to them by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control of the Ministry of Planning in accordance with the provisions of Article (21) of the Patent and Industrial Designs Law No. (65) ) For the year 1970 amended and at the responsibility of the inventor.
The patent included a new method for preparing and characterizing aluminum nanoparticle oxide particles and using them as an antibiotic and for treating wounds within a living body.

The President of the University of Technology congratulated Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Ghabban, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering
 Prof. Dr. Wissam Kadhim Hamdan after assuming the position of presidency of the department, wishing him continued good luck and creativity in his serious career in order to elevate the department in the highest scientific ranks.
The visit of the President of the University of Technology, besides his congratulations, also included honoring the scientific assistant in charge of conducting the work of the former department, Dr. Saad Mahmoud, with an appreciation shield and thanks and appreciation for his great efforts towards assigning him to this task.
The visit of the President of the University of Technology to the building of the Presidency of the Department of Biomedical Engineering is full of hospitality and joy through its reception by the head of the department, Professor Dr. Wissam Kazem Hamdan, along with his administrative and scientific assistants, branch heads and a side of the faculty members in the department.
