The lecture addressed several topics. The first topic dealt with the phenomenon of drug abuse as it is one of the most dangerous crimes that has the greatest impact on the individual and society
The second topic dealt with the legal articles and penalties imposed on those who use various types of drugs, as well as the reasons for the spread of the phenomenon of drug abuse to protect society from its dangers. It also talked about how to address the phenomenon of drug abuse to save the addict from the danger of drugs. Many types of drugs were presented during the symposium. Including natural and manufactured drugs, as well as synthetic (chemical) drugs. The symposium recommended the need for concerted efforts among the concerned authorities to reduce this phenomenon and tighten penalties in Iraqi law. It also urged that each individual take his role in reducing drugs.

The Biomedical Engineering Department at the university organized a field visit to the Iraqi National Museum
Written by عضو ارتباطThe Biomedical Engineering Department at the university organized a field visit to the Iraqi National Museum. Accompanied by a group of teaching staff
Asst.Lec. Atheer audience
Asst.Lec. Wissam Zahim
Asst.Lec. Manhal Rahim
To visit this visit is part of a series of visits visited by the Department of Life Medicine, but the visit is to provide scientific and cultural knowledge for our students.
The visit was characterized by new information provided by the museum staff about the artifacts, including statues, obelisks, manuscripts, and seals dating back to ancient civilizations that embody the ancient history of Iraq before the invention of writing, and such as the five civilizations of Mesopotamia, the Sumerian, Akkadian, Babylonian, Assyrian, Islamic, and the Kingdom of Hatra.

A lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Engineering publishes two papers in two Clarivate journals
Written by عضو ارتباطA lecturer in the Department of Biomedicine, Assist. Prof. Saad Mahmoud Ali, Head of the Biomechanical Branch, published two research papers in two journals from Clarivate Containers. The first research paper is entitled:
"A Novel Design and Simulation of a Nano Prosthetic Artificial Heart Valves"
The first research aims to design and manufacture unique models of eight artificial heart valves that were examined using seven synthetic and nanocomposite materials to determine the best designs and materials in terms of durability, flexibility, and energy consumption. Biomechanical performance was also improved using the response surface methodology (RSM) and expert systems. The research was published in the International Journal of Engineering in Vol. 37, Issue 2, February 2024.
The second research is entitled:
"Improvement of the Fatigue Life of 3D Printed Nano Soft Artificial Heart and Heart Valves"
The second research aims to design, manufacture and test advanced models of a soft human artificial heart and artificial heart valves using nanocomposite and synthetic materials. It was also examined to determine the best service life for each type by simulating the diastolic and systolic pressures that occur in a normal heart. A new generation of a soft artificial hearts has also been produced by 3D printed techniques for permanent replacement and has a service life of tens of years, while the alternative to the temporary mechanical hearts currently implanted with high costs and a service life of no more than five years. The research was published in the Iranian Journal of Materials Science and Engineering in Volume 20, Issue 4/January 2023.
A teaching assistant in the department publishes research in an international journal

Publishes research in an international journal within Scopus databases entitled:
"Utilize Chitosan to Coat Hydroxyapatite on Polymer"
The research addressed that increasing osseointegration by applying polymer coatings to ceramics using the dip-coating method represents a challenge in itself for the success of the process of coating polymeric materials on ceramic materials using the previous method.
This research aims to create a new interface to enhance osseointegration. This interface between the polymeric part and bone tissue overcomes the problems and malfunctions that occur in metal limb implants in amputees. As a result of its rejection by living body cells or lack of good cohesion between the implant and the contact site. In this work, PEEK plastic is coated with a biocompatible active material (hydroxyapatite). The polymeric parts that are implanted inside the bone will be used as an anchor for the metal screw that is used in the implanted prosthesis. This research is one of a series of research working to enhance the osseointegration of bones in the simplest and most efficient ways.
